The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is responsible for managing over 800 Species of wildlife, and only about 100 of these species are considered game species.
Wildlife diversity is an important part of our heritage, and managing to maintain diverse habitats and wildlife populations is a major function of the Department.
SPECIES OF THE SEASON CHALLENGE! Information on the distributation and relative abundance of the 700+ nongame species in Wyoming is important to the Department's efforts to manage all wildlife in the state. The Department lacks extensive information about many of these species. To begin addressing this information need, the Department is asking you to submit your Spring/Summer 2007 observations of the six species shown below. For more information on the Species of the Season Challenge and how you can help by submitting your observations click here.
