Medicine Lodge WHMA Acess Roads Now Open
Flash flooding along the Dry and Wet Forks of Medicine Lodge Creek at Medicine Lodge State Park delayed the opening of the access road (Dugway road) through the state park and wildlife habitat management area onto adjacent BLM and Forest Serivce lands this spring. As of Sept. 13, the road is now open.

Transportation of Carcasses Thru Yellowstone National Park
To transport a carcass taken from a state where Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) exists through Yellowstone National Park certain conditions must be met. These are the conditions.
- meat must be cut and wrapped, either commercially or privately
- quarters or other portions of meat with no part of the spinal column or head attached
- meat must be boned out
-clean (no meat or tissue attached) skull plates with antlers attached
- upper canine teeth, also known as buglers, whistlers, or ivories
-finished taxidermy heads
-and ALL HUNTERS MUST OBTAIN A TRANSPORTATION PERMIT

Alaska Study--Bear Spray is Effective
Bear researchers in Alaska and Canada reviewed 83 bear incidents where bear spray was used in an encounter situation. Of all persons carrying sprays, 98% were uninjured by bears in close range encounters. Read the study results. In an article by Tom Smith, Brigham Young University, in 300 incidents in Alaska where people carried and used firearms for protection against aggressive bears, 40% were injured or killed, including 23 fatalities and 16 severely injured people. Another 48 people suffered lesser injuries.
