WGFD's fish spawning crew recently collected eggs from trophy class brown and brook trout at Soda Lake north of Pinedale. The fish there have served as an egg source for many years. While these fish have historically grown quite large, the overall fish population at Soda Lake has suffered in the past decade. There are several factors that have led to the reduction in trout numbers, including low dissolved oxygen concentrations in the
winter (winter kill), warm summer temperatures, drought, and bacterial disease.
